In many ways Coronavirus has been but will we see long lasting environmental change?

In many ways Coronavirus has been and environmentalists dream but will we see long lasting environmental change?

Coronavirus has led to reduced pollution, falling carbon emissions, re-emerging wildlife: all an environmentalists dream.  But will it continue and will we see long lasting environmental change?  There are mountains of food going to waste, unrecyclable waste rising daily; severe cuts in agricultural and fishery export levels, while the maintenance and monitoring of natural ecosystems has been temporarily halted; and tourism activity to natural areas has ceased. So what action will and should the world take next?

As coronavirus spread around the world so did a wave of misinformation about it. From untested home remedies to misleading videos adding confusion and concern about what can and can’t be trusted. Platforms such as Facebook and Google have, for the first time, taken a tougher stance on what is shared online. But is it up to them and are they doing enough?  Political rumours,  progaganda and conspiracy theories are nothing new particularly on social media – but how far does the disordering of information go in misleading the public and undermining democracy and governments?
