Presenter Hayley Pearce loves fashion. Like most of her friends, she would never wear the same outfit on two nights out and wouldn’t be seen dead in a charity shop. She’s at her happiest when she’s cruising the high street or browsing online, and with such a huge selection of clothes at knockdown prices, she thinks nothing of treating herself to a new outfit on a weekly basis. Her wardrobe is now so massive that it’s taken over her spare room. And that’s not unusual - apparently there is £30 billion worth of unworn clothes hanging up in UK homes. But does she really need all those clothes?
To find out, Hayley takes on the challenge of wearing a capsule wardrobe of just 14 items for two weeks. Whilst struggling with her new streamlined wardrobe, Hayley realises that she’s never really thought about what happens to clothes after they’ve been discarded. To find out where they end up, she visits a landfill site and is shocked by the waste she sees there. Hayley also wants to know why we’re so hooked on getting our hands on the latest new looks, so she meets influencer Olivia Buckland to find out what role online influencers have.
Will Hayley learn to love second-hand or will she be splashing the cash again at the end of her challenge? Show less
