How might charities and church change in response to the current pandemic?

Cathy and guests explore some of the lessons that can be learned from the Coronavirus crisis, in terms of how we give and how charities operate, and also how we do Church.

The Coronavirus crisis and subsequent lock down has led to changes in how we view charity and how we give to others. Sally Foster-Fulton, Head of Christian Aid Scotland, Michaela Collins, Chief Executive of PEEK, and Reverend Richard Frazer, Minister of Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, discuss how their charities have been affected and the lessons to be learned from the current situation. 
 
Dr Rajan Madhok, a Consultant at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, shares why he wanted to Make a Difference to some other front-line workers who he felt deserved a little treat, and we find out how we did it. 
 
In what would normally be the opening weekend of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Cathy is joined by the new moderator, the Right Reverend Martin Fair. Martin, along with Sally Foster Fulton and Reverend Richard Frazer, consider the impact the crisis has had on how Church is done, and if we might see a different church emerge once restrictions ease.  
 
Mezzo Soprano Andrea Baker and Sally Foster Fulton take a look at the new Netflix sensation, Becoming, which offers a fascinating insight into the life of former U.S. first lady, Michelle Obama, and raises some interesting questions about race, gender and power dynamics. 
 
And as Museums & Galleries Edinburgh begin to collect objects which represent local residents’ lock down experiences, Andrea and Sally share their own lock down objects.
