More than 600 people have died of Covid-19 in Brazil in the past 24 hours - the highest death toll for a single day anywhere in the southern hemisphere. President Jair Bolsonaro has so far dismissed the severity of the pandemic and has encouraged people to carry on working.

Turkmenistan is one of a small group of countries that have reported no cases of coronavirus. But is it really possible that the nation has managed to remain safe from the pandemic?

The Ruby Princess cruise liner which caused controversy in Australia by disembarking passengers with flu like symptoms has arrived in the Philippines. It's one of many such ships docking there  as the industry remains dormant during the pandemic.
