A unique look at food banks from a Sikh perspective. And how two women, both called Fiona, are reaching out to people with a popular podcast.

To reflect the times we are living in, Cathy Macdonald with the help of her guests Reverend Philip Blackledge, Rector of Holy Trinity, Melrose, and Fiona Stewart, Director of Foolproof Creative Arts, navigate through some of the issues facing us.

Food has become a central part of our day, Philip and Fiona consider the added thought going into how we purchase it, prepare it, and eat it. Reporter Carol Purcell reflects on the increasingly popular pastime of baking bread, and Philip and Fiona discuss the breaking and sharing of bread.  

Charandeep Singh, one of the founders of the Sikh Food Bank, and Philip Blackledge, talk about the increased pressure on food banks during the coronavirus crisis, and the role of food in religious celebrations. 

Priest School, a new BBC Scotland documentary, gives a rare and exclusive glimpse into the Pontifical Scots College in Rome, where Scottish men train for the priesthood. Cathy is joined by Fr Mark O’Donnell, who spent seven years there and features in the documentary.

Fiona Stewart is joined by her partner in podcasting Fiona Hollow, who tell us about their podcast, Hollow and Substantial. 

Like food, communication is another key part of our day during the lockdown. Cathy and her guests look at the importance of keeping in touch, how we’re doing it, and our dependence on communication, when we’re physically apart from loved ones. 

And four weeks into lock down, how are we getting on with those we’re spending all day every day with? We’ll be finding out the little niggles that are appearing and some lessons for sharing the same space.
