Ben Miller on his children's book and Janice pays tribute to Scottish actress Ida Schuster

Ben Miller tells Janice about his latest book The Boy Who Made the World Disappear, and we hear about Love After Love, the debut novel from Ingrid Persaud.

Ben Miller tells us about his new children’s book The Boy Who Made the World Disappear. 

Janice pays tribute to the great Scottish actress of stage and screen Ida Schuster, who died at 101 years old last week, but not before recording a series of podcasts about her incredible life.

We hear from Kerry Ellis about the tour of Queen Machine Symphonic, due to launch in Edinburgh next week but now rescheduled for the Usher Hall on October 5th and The Royal Concert hall the following night. 

Ingrid Persaud, the winner of the BBC National Short Story Award, tells Janice about her debut novel Love After Love, released at the start of April. 

We hear from Lighthouse Books, the regional winner for the Independent Bookshop of the Year Award, and Sandstone Press, the regional winner of the Small Press of the Year Award announced by the British Book Awards.  And amidst their success discover how Scottish independent arts businesses are coping with the crisis, and how the community is responding. 
 
Elizabeth Newman, Artistic Director of Pitlochry Theatre tells us about how she reacted to the postponement of the theatre’s planned programme, by commissioning 25 new writers to create digital content, short films and podcasts. 
 
And as part of our ongoing commitment to reflect the inspiring work taking place in communities across Scotland we hear from artist and NHS support worker Louise Gibson about her initiative to source valuable PPE.
