Richard finds out how international students here are coping with coronavirus, discusses a project making clubbing more accessible and talks to Elizabeth Day about failure.

Richard speaks to a group of students from the University of the West of Scotland’s Ayr Campus to get their thoughts on the coronavirus pandemic.  Alice Liana Galli from Italy, Christopher Dass from India and Sarah Livingston from Canada, tell Richard what it’s like to be living away from home and far from loved ones as the crisis spreads.

Campaigner Vicky Phelan talks about how faced with a terminal cancer diagnosis, she took on Ireland’s National Health Service and uncovered a major cervical smear scandal. Her new memoir, Overcoming, is a devastating account of a life packed with tragedy and loss faced with courage and heroic determination. 

Going clubbing is something which hasn’t always been easy for people who have additional support needs.  But ‘Awakening the Club Experience’, a monthly event for the disabled community, based in Falkirk, and now expanding into Stirling and Kirkcaldy, is opening up new possibilities.  

Writer Elizabeth Day doesn’t mind talking about her failures in life and she’s liberated herself through her hugely successful podcast ‘How to Fail’. That's also the name of her latest book, which says that far from hiding our failures, we should celebrate them.
