Director Aisling Walsh on her successful career so far; the restoration of Stormont in Northern Ireland; Colombian writer Hector Abad talks about his influential father.

Cathy Macdonald is joined by screenwriter and director Aisling Walsh. She talks about growing up in Ireland, being a woman in the film industry and working with Glenda Jackson in recent television drama Elizabeth is Missing. 
In our occasional Inspirations series, film-maker, musician, and actor, Roxana Vilk, shares a beautiful piece of music she came across in an interesting setting. 

Stormont’s power sharing coalition has finally been restored, but what about the three years absence of any kind of leadership? Catholic theologian Anthony Allison looks at the impact it has had on communities, living in this period of uncertainty. 

Terrence Malick’s new film, ‘A Hidden Life’, brings to screen the life of an Austrian farmer whose refusal to fight for Nazi Germany led to his death. Cathy finds out more about the martyr Franz Jagerstatter, with writers and peace activists, Marian Pallister who is chair of Pax Christi Scotland, and Jim Forest, who himself was a conscientious objector. 

We recently caught up with the award winning Indian writer Salman Rushdie, who shared a wonderful childhood memory of where he grew up in Bombay, on top of a hill in the middle of the city.

And Colombian writer Héctor Abad on his book Oblivion – A Memoir, a heart breaking tribute to his father who was murdered over 30 years ago by paramilitaries for daring to criticise the Colombian regime.
