The Australian authorities say they're unable to reach some areas where bushfires are still raging after the deadliest day since the fire season began. Seven people are known to have died in New South Wales on Tuesday.

The United States is to send more troops to the Middle East to protect its embassy in Baghdad. This follows an attempt to storm the embassy on Tuesday by protesters.
