The British government is putting legislation before Parliament to leave the EU.

The government promises to end "delay and rancour" by ensuring the UK leaves the EU by 31 January.

The Brexit Secretary, Steven Barclay, told the BBC that today's vote on the Withdrawal Agreement Bill was an opportunity to "move the country forward after what's been a very long and divided three years”. But Opposition parties say the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson -fresh from his election victory- has abandoned his pre- poll compromises. The bill also sets the end of 2020 for negotiating a new relationship between Britain and the EU.

Also in the programme: thousands of protesters are again marching through the streets of the Indian capital, Delhi, angry about a controversial new citizenship law; and how the scramble for sand is destroying the Mekong River.
