Actor and writer Tony Roper, finding inspiration and the divine in literature, The Freedom of Mind choir and documentary maker Tony Kearney on his latest documentary Priest School.

He was Jamesie to Gregor Fisher’s Rab C, and won a Bafta for his comedy drama The Steamie. Cathy Macdonald catches up with actor and writer Tony Roper. 

Putting kindness at the heart of Christmas, poet and writer Catherine Wilson shares her alternative Advent Calendar, and fellow poet Rachel Plummer explains why she thought it was the perfect time to provide a stress free zone with her relaxing storytelling sessions for adults. 

Illuminating the divine all around us, theologian and writer Greg Garrett discusses ‘The Courage to See: Daily Inspiration from Great Literature’, a collection of literary devotionals which he has put together with Sabrina Fountain. 

And inspired by Greg’s book, Dr Linden Bicket, from the University of Edinburgh’s School of Divinity, and writer and broadcaster Dr David Goodman share literature that both nourishes and transports us to worlds beyond our imagination. 

The Freedom of Mind Choir offers a little uplift for those affected by mental health issues. Reporter Catrina Rose joined them for a festive sing-along in Falkirk.

And as The Scots College in Rome opens its doors to TV cameras for the first time, we get a unique insight into what it’s like to train as a Scottish priest.  Documentary maker Tony Kearney tells Cathy about Priest School, which follows the lives of young seminarians.
