A patient makes a 450-mile round trip for a hospital appointment that takes just 20 minutes, and the emergency services join forces to raise money for an MRI scanner for Shetland.

Today, an oil rig worker from Tyne and Wear is rushed to A&E with a suspected stroke. The team are worried as the symptoms first appeared the previous night, which could have serious implications. He realised something was wrong when he noticed the water was hotter on one side of his body than the other while he was having a shower.

A patient makes a 450-mile round trip for a hospital appointment that takes just 20 minutes, and medics and other emergency service staff join forces to try to raise money for an MRI scanner for Shetland that could make a huge difference to the islands’ residents.
