John Illsley, from Dire Straits, looks back over his remarkable career in music.

Grant Stott has music and, an extended, conversation, with John Illsley - the English musician who rose to fame as bass guitarist with the acclaimed, and internationally successful, Dire Straits; with Dire Straits, John has been the recipient of multiple BRIT and Grammy Awards and a Heritage Award. As one of the founding band members, with Mark Knopfler, he played a major role in the development of the Dire Straits’ sound and will look back over his remarkable career in music.

He will also hear from the kids entertainment group Funbox! (Gary, Kevin and Anya - previously Singing Kettle) They will be talking about their  Xmas tour and the importance of traditional kids songs. 

Regular Afternoon Show Critics, Ian Hoey and Catrina Rose will debate  Director Martin Scorsese’s recent comments on the ‘artistic value of  superhero movies’:  he has said, 'The situation fills me with terrible sadness' and rejoined a controversy he started, praising the artistry of the blockbuster franchises but complaining they lack mystery and emotional danger!

Rod Stephen, the Australian founder and musical director, of the ultimate Abba tribute, BJÖRN AGAIN  will be discussing their brand new EP – CHRISTMAS IS BJÖRN AGAIN  and new  tour:  they will be in Glasgow on Thursday!

All that and our regular Book Group discussion this month on  a classic title from PG Wodehouse, the 20th century master of the light comic novel.  The Code of The Woosters is the third full-length novel featuring his best-known creations, the bumbling fool Bertie Wooster and his quick-thinking valet Jeeves. In this outing, the duo hatches a daring and hilarious scheme to steal an 18th-century cow-creamer. What could go wrong?
