Charismatic, award winning writer and broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove talks movingly to Edi Stark about the most defining moment of his life....his father’s death when he was eight years old. In this wide ranging, fascinating conversation with a self-confessed ‘sociable loner’, he talks about his obsessive loves throughout life, including football, northern soul, his media career, research and becoming a father late in life.  He explains that difference can make for successful relationships...with his odd couple, radio partner Tam Cowan on Off the Ball, and his wife Shirani Sabaratnum, from Sri Lanka, so sociable she’d turn up for the opening of an envelope, he claims. Nicknamed ‘Lionel Itchy’ because of his eczema, he grew up on Letham housing estate in Perth, which despite a middle class lifestyle and having residences in London, Glasgow and Sri Lanka, he still views as ‘home’.
