A nostalgic, light-hearted look back at the best days of our lives. Through story and anecdote we take a journey from the first days at primary school, right through to the very different world of the high school, and the beginning of adult life.

The first programme in this three-part mini-series starts at the beginning, and that first day at school – a major milestone in the life of every child. Often it’s the first time they have left their parents' side as they take the first tentative steps into the wider world. The start of one of life’s biggest adventures, that for many "begun in the wee room"!

Among the tales are memories of starting school, how people got to school, the classroom itself, learning a new language - English - and school dinners.
