With 40 deaths and 110,000 rescuers mobilised, Japan is reeling from Typhoon Hagibis

Flooding from Typhoon Hagibis has affected an area the size of the United Kingdom. At least 40 people are known to have died.

With Japan continuing its rescue operations from the devastation caused by Typhoon Hagibis, we talk to Robin Harding, Tokyo bureau chief for the Financial Times about what its like in the city right now. Meanwhile, the US is imposing sanctions on leaders in Turkey, in response to the intensification of hostilities there. We speak to Soner Çağaptay, director of the Turkish Research Programme at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy about whether this will hurt the country's already struggling economy.
