How do you complain effectively? The latest figures from the Institute of Customer Service show the number of people experiencing a problem with an organisation is at its highest level. There's been a steady decline in the past two years in the levels of customer satisfaction with some of the biggest companies. The worst performers are businesses connected to: telecoms and media, utilities, transport and public services.

So when it does go wrong, how do you complain? What's the best way to get what you want? And when has complaining been completely futile?
