A surfer taps into the internet to crowdfund a project inspiring young girls, and an ethical loan helps rebuild lives blighted by addiction.

Single mum Sherise has a housing problem - she wants to move out of her mum’s house in Lewisham into her own place in Bedford but doesn’t have the money for her deposit. Can her credit union, The Green Man in Lewisham, help with a much-needed loan?

In the tourist hotspot of St Ives, 24-year-old Tassy turned to the internet to crowdfund a surf school. But there is more to her club than just riding the waves. Tassy, a former professional surfer, is helping local girls aged six to 16 to achieve their full potential with self-confidence and a positive body image.

In Suffolk, an ethical loan is helping rebuild lives blighted by addiction. Simon has set up the Ipswich Recovery Hub, a residential programme to help break addictive behaviours, and in the capital a nursery owner's business has suddenly come under threat. Her landlord has decided to sell up, and her only hope is to try to buy the building herself. For 20 years Caroline has been a member of her local credit union, but will years of diligently saving add up to rescue her business?
