Janice speaks to authors Kwame Alexander and Jason Reynolds and comedy from Double Denim.

Michelle Kholos Brooks talks about her play Hitler's Tasters, the cast perform an extract, and Michelle's husband Max Brooks talks about the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

Award winning American writers Jason Reynolds and Kwame Alexander, who are over for the Edinburgh International Book Festival, join Janice on the sofa and talk about how each of their novels uses rhythmn to encourage young people to get into reading; each read extracts from their books. 

Award winning composer Gareth Williams, best known for composing The National Theatre of Scotland's Trilogy The 306, will perform a song he’s written specially for The Afternoon Show, inspired by the last line of a novel ahead of special Edinburgh Book Festival event 'Last Lines' involving various high-profile composers and the Hebrides Ensemble.

We’ll hear from Amy Booth-Steel, star of hit Fringe play, #HonestAmy, directed by Kathy Burke, and have a live performance from Amy herself.

Best-selling writer - comedian, author and former doctor, Adam Kay will be on the sofa.  

Drag King Len Blanco will perform and the person behind the act Len Gwyn will chat to Janice.

We’ll have live music from our house band Tom McGuire and The Brassholes.

Janice talks to Michelle Kholos Brooks about her Edinburgh Fringe play Hitler's Tasters, and Michelle's husband and son of Mel Brooks, Max Brooks, talks about his event at the Edinburgh Book Festival and his latest graphic novel.

We’ll have comedy from award winning  duo Double Denim also known as Michelle Brasier and Laura Frew.

Rob Carter joins Janice on stage in character as Shropshire’s unofficial poet laureate Christopher Bliss. 

We hear about PALS from Director Nick Hennegan, Kizzy Dunn who plays Sue and Amy Anderson who plays Linda in the comic play based on the true story of Brummy council estate mates through the period from the Sixties to the Noughties.
