President Donald Trump has said the US Navy shot down an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz. He said the USS Boxer amphibious assault ship "took defensive action".

Humanitarian organisations and health experts have welcomed the decision by the World Health Organisation to declare the ongoing Ebola outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. The declaration is expected to help increase international support needed to stop the outbreak.

Some of Puerto Rico's biggest stars have joined protestors in San Juan, calling on the island's governor, Ricardo Rosselló, to resign. It's the 5th day in a row of protests in the U.S. territory - after a leak of hundreds of pages of misogynistic and homophobic texts between the governor and his main advisers.
