They were from El Salvador and had been trying to reach the United States

Mexico's President, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, says he's saddened by the deaths of a father and his young daughter from El Salvador as they tried to cross the Rio Grande into the United States.  A photograph of their bodies wrapped together in shallow waters has provoked an emotional response. 

Nigeria's game against Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament is in danger of being overshadowed by a row over unpaid allowances and bonuses.
