Is the school curriculum appropriate to the needs of life and work? And should religion always be part of that or should it be left to the church and home? 

Another school year is drawing to a close with just a couple more weeks of exam stress to get through before the long holiday but is the education curriculum fit for purpose in terms of preparation for life and for work? And what would a new curriculum look like? Would there be room for religion or is that best left to home and church? Martine Mulhern is principal of St Cecilia’s in Derry, Sir Bob Salisbury is a renowned educationalist, Tina McKenzie owns a large recruitment company and Dr Andy Brown is a former teachers’ union leader and is currently a Principal Lecturer at Stranmillis University College. He chairs the State Education Committee for the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and is the Vice-chair of the Controlled Schools’ Support Council.
