Trump Unimpressed With Mexico Trade Talks

BBC World Service - Business Matters, Trump Unimpressed With Mexico Trade Talks

The US and Mexico have failed to reach a deal on tariffs and immigration

The first day of talks between the US and Mexico have failed to reach a deal on immigration that would prevent the US placing a 5% tariff on Mexican imports. The talks will resume Thursday and Mexico's foreign minister Marcelo Ebrard said he sees potential for a resolution. Also in the show, Russian President Vladimir Putin has called his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping his “dear friend”. The two are meeting in Russia to sign new trade deals and discuss further bilateral investment opportunities. Both leaders expressed admiration for each other, and enthusiasm at the growing relationship between the two countries. Fred Kempe, President of the Atlantic Council in Washington DC, weighs in on how worried the US should be by this budding friendship. 
Meanwhile, Irwin Stelzer of the Hudson Institute explains why he thinks the US-China trade war is over, and a new cold war has begun. 
And we’re joined by the e-commerce entrepreneur Rafael Badziag, whose new book The Billion Dollar Secret delves deep into the minds of the world’s most successful people.
