US says its not seeking conflict with Iran but ready to defend its interests in the Gulf

The United States says it's ready to defend its forces and interests in the Gulf, as tensions with Iran escalate. The Pentagon is sending an additional navy ship and a patriot air defence missile system to the region. We hear from a former State Department official about these US military deployments to the Middle East. 

Also on the programme: Houthi rebels in Yemen say they intend to withdraw from a port that's crucial for bringing aid to millions of starving Yemenis; and  "precision medicine" - how genetic data is being used as a predictor of undiagnosed disease.
