Mark Stephen and Euan McIlwraith with the latest outdoor activities.

Euan McIlwraith finds out about the upcoming Scottish Beef Event which is being held on a farm near Oldmeldrum.

Euan finds out about the upcoming Scottish Beef Event which is being held on a farm near Oldmeldrum.  This year the theme is ‘Beef after Brexit.’

The Farmer Jones Academy was set up by Richard Jones to provide practical training and skills to get teenagers to consider careers in food and farming. Working with Nairn Academy, Richard tells Mark how the programme has grown from strength to strength. 

Euan is in Robert Burns’ country to meet a farmer who’s taken his dairy farm from the brink of collapse, to a successful organic enterprise. 
   
The Poly Roger is a boat made of 99% recycled plastic and it’s been making its way across the central belt highlighting the problem of plastic waste.  Euan climbs aboard to find out more. 

The Jellicoe Express was the name given to the troop train that carried soldiers the length of Britain during the First and Second World Wars.  Mark visits Forsinard, one of the last stops of the train, to find out about its significance and the role of the Flow Country’s sphagnum moss during the First World War. 

Euan continues his quest to find truly Scottish bacon.  He visits a pig farmer in Fife who made a decision to cut out the middle man and sell directly to customers. 

This weekend marks the end of Scottish Badger week.  Mark has been finding out more about these elusive mammals. 

And after Euan’s mammoth Dawn Chorus broadcast last weekend, we hear a snippet of the dawn chorus from Australia.
