President Macron: fundraising to rebuild Notre Dame to start immediately following blaze

The French President, Emmanuel Macron, has vowed that Notre Dame cathedral will be rebuilt, after a fire seriously damaged the Paris landmark.  

Firefighters managed to save the 850-year-old Gothic building's main stone structure, including its two towers, but the spire and roof have collapsed.

Also on the programme: Egyptian lawmakers vote on constitutional changes which could allow President Al-Sisi to lengthen his term in office; and we learn more about new research that could benefit astronauts who experience muscle loss in space.
