More military personnel deployed as mass demonstrations continue in Sudan

Security forces in Sudan have used tear gas and live ammunition to try to disperse thousands of protesters who are demanding the resignation of President Omar al Bashir. 

Eyewitnesses said some troops intervened to protect the protesters.

Also on the programme: At least 21 people have died during fighting in Tripoli; and a BBC investigation finds that Russian agents offered money to candidates in Madagascar’s presidential election.
