A year on from poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, Salisbury is ruled safe

One year on from the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, the British government has said the city of Salisbury has been decontaminated and is now free of Novichok. The nerve agent was used in an apparent attempt to kill the Skripals but it also led to the death of a British woman, Dawn Sturgess. So why did the clean up take so long?
