Former prisoner turned journalist Erwin James explains how writing helped save him.

The nature of forgiveness with Beryl Quigley who forgave the men who killed her husband. Plus becoming a journalist in prison - Erwin James on how writing transformed his life.

Prison was perhaps inevitable for Erwin James whose early years were beset with tragedy, violence and petty theft. But it was in prison where his life turned around, after he picked up the pen, channeling his energies into writing. Cathy finds out about his transformation and becoming a journalist while still inside. 

After more than 200 years, sermons written by the famous Baptist Minister Andrew Fuller, have been deciphered. The code cracker, Jonny Woods, a student at the University of St Andrews, joins Cathy along with Dr Steve Holmes, head of the School of Divinity, who set the challenge.

Scandalous forgiveness is the theme of this year’s 4 Corners Festival in Belfast. But what does it mean? Beryl Quigley, who forgave the men who shot her husband on their doorstep; Professor Robert Enright, co-founder of the International Forgiveness Institute and Rev David Campton, one of the organisers of the 4 Corners Festival, discuss the nature of forgiveness and whether or not it can be taught. 

Reflecting back on the life and work of the brave and imaginative theologian, Elizabeth Templeton, with Dr Lesley Orr, feminist historian based at the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Theology and Public Issues. ‘In Your Knowing Is Your Loving’ is a collection of Elizabeth’s work exploring ideas of love and life, freedom and forgiveness.

And critic Gareth K Vile, and theologian Lesley Orr, review the latest Scandi-drama ‘Ride Upon The Storm’…with a charismatic but deeply flawed priest at its heart; it is suitably deep and dark.
