BBC World Service - Business Matters, Trump announces deal to lift shutdown

President yields to pressure to end the longest US government shutdown in history.

President Donald Trump has yielded to political pressure to end the longest US government shutdown in history. Scott Wong, senior writer at the Hill provides analysis. Many people are feared dead after a dam collapsed at an iron-ore mine in south-east Brazil. The BBC's Daniel Gallas gives us an update. Also in the programme, countries including the US recognise Venezuela's opposition leader as interim president. As a political crisis continues to unfold, Carlos Camacho of the Herald Tribune in Caracas tells us how life is continuing in the country. Also in the programme, as Europe's second largest comics festival, the Angoulemen International Comics Festival gets under way in France, its artistic director Stephane Beaujean explains the attraction.
