Richard Holloway in conversation with American activist Barbara Ehrenreich

Richard Holloway talks to American writer and activist Barbara Ehrenreich and a discussion on the rise of open source investigative journalism.

She’s one of America’s greatest living journalists and activists - Barbara Ehrenreich joins Richard to discuss her life and work and her new book Natural Causes about why we are so keen to evade death and not accept our own mortality.

Nae Pasaran is a new documentary that tells the story of the stand taken by a group of Scottish Rolls Royce workers against the military junta of Chile’s General Pinochet in 1970s. Richard talks to Director Felipe Bustos Sierra and worker Stuart Barrie about this powerful act of solidarity and the lasting effect it had back in Chile.

Investigative journalism has been transformed in the last few years by a shift to online open source and social media investigation. Associate Professor Eamonn O’Neill of Edinburgh Napier University and Dr Idrees Ahmad Lecturer in Digital Journalism at Stirling University join Richard to explore whether the rise of citizen journalism threatens or enhances traditional journalistic ethics.

For many years psychedelic drugs have been shrouded in suspicion and fear, and classified as illegal substances. But recent research has suggested they may have the potential to help those with mental health conditions or terminal illnesses. Richard talks to Michael Pollan, author of How To Change Your Mind – The New Science Of Psychedelics about the history of psychedelics and their medical potential.
