Sectarianism, tribalism, division have often appeared deep. How to fix them has been a perennial difficulty for many generations. The role of the churches has frequently come into question, none more so than in a challenging contribution by Dr Fergus O'Ferral, former lay leader of the Methodist Church in Ireland. He questions whether or not the churches are part of the problem rather than the solution.
