Ricky & his panel explore & reflect on the theme of borders - both internal and external.

Exploring the challenges around borders, whether geopolitical or those we put up in our inner worlds & former Grand Master of Scotland's Orange Lodge on 'Unpeeling The Orange'.

With ongoing regional conflicts, trade wars between super powers, and the impact of Brexit, the challenges around geopolitical borders are felt deeply at present. But as well as those physical lines in the sand, there are other borders that feature in our lives, including those in our inner worlds. To explore borders – both external and internal – Ricky Ross is joined by poet and linguist Esa Aldegheri, Pádraig Ó’Tuama, writer and leader of Northern Ireland’s Corrymeela Community, and Gordon Graham,  Emeritus Professor of Philosophy and the Arts at Princeton Theological Seminary.
 
As the Women of the World festival heads to Perth, WOW founder Jude Kelly and WOW Scotland’s programmer Louise Brodie, discuss why we need such a space, and the impact that traditional economics have had on gender equality. 
 
Looking beyond the ‘selfie’ culture, Rhona Christie who was born with a cleft lip and palate explains how the Portrait Positive campaign is challenging society’s perceptions of beauty. 
 
The Orange Lodge’s reputation in Scotland has been contentious at times, but a former Grand Master of the Lodge, Ian Wilson, tells Ricky how that’s being addressed in a new event, ‘Unpeeling the Orange’.
 
Scottish Zimbabwean artist Sekai Machache and Dr Olivia Rutazibwa, Senior Lecturer in International Development Studies at the University of Portsmouth, look at some of the moral issues thrown up by Black Earth Rising, a BBC drama set in the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide.
