We take comfort in Rob Newman’s wonderful romp through reality as interpreted by those other French thinkers of long ago. We also analyse when laughter is fake, when real ‘phone ins’ are funnier than the fake ones and how Johnny Flynn manages to merge with a star accordion player in Columbia to create a non-fake entirely existential musical masterpiece… not forgetting a fond insight into the appeal of the penguin - whose sense of humour and dress sense are more real to some humans than humans are to themselves – not that I’m obsessed but I do have a penguin tea towel, bath towel, paperweight, garden statue, pencil sharpener…
