Janice talks to cast members from two plays touring Scotland - Islander and Scotties.

Singer Rachel Sermanni live and we meet the UK's first Pet Poet Laureate, Russell Jones, ahead of a Neu! Reekie! event co-hosted by poet Michael Pedersen who tells us all about it.

In today's show we hear about two Scottish theatre productions. The first is Islander, which is currently in the midst of an extensive tour all around Scotland. This is a new musical blending fantasy and Scottish storytelling from Scottish composer and songwriter Finn Anderson, and tells the story of young Eilidh, who has never left her Island and lives the same day over and over again, until a girl from a faraway land is washed up on shore, changing Eilidh's life forever. 

The second play Janice explores is Scotties, by Muireann Kelly and Frances Poet, which also tackles themes of identity and migration by taking the real life tragic story of the terrible Bothy fire in Kirkintilloch which killed a group of Irish Immigrant workers from Achill Island in 1937 and using it as the starting point for a contemporary cross-generational tale about what happens when we decide not to pass on our cultural heritage - through the lens of a young boy in Glasgow whose soul is awakened by the tragedy as he struggles to find his voice. 

Neu! Reekie!'s Michael Pedersen looks ahead to the last programmed event in the arts collective's year in Stonehaven with singer songwriter Rachel Sermanni, who performs live music in the Edinburgh studio, and talks about what he and his team have planned for the next year, whilst reflecting on the experience of hosting two massive events at the newly re-opened Leith Theatre for the Edinburgh International Festival.

The second hour of the show is our Tuesday Review segment. 
This week Janice is joined by BBC Investigative Journalist and presenter of The Doorstep Murder podcast Fiona Walker; radio producer, broadcaster and writer Bronwen Livingstone, and Liverpudlian journalist Neil Cooper to review Danny Boyle's new Netflix series TRUST, Paul McCartney's new album Egypt Station, and the very first episode of the Homecoming Podcast series ahead of the release of both the new podcast series and the TV adaptation starring Julia Roberts on Netflix. Janice and her reviewers also discuss the various trends and listening habits in the current culture of podcasts, as they discuss Marc Maron's podcast interview with Paul McCartney.
