Kiwa has a nasogastric tube fitted by Dr Ranj so she can get the medicine she needs.

Children's series. Dr Ranj fits Kiwa with a nasogastric tube so she can get the special medicine and food she needs. It feels funny at first, but Kiwa gets used to it!

At the hospital, Dr Ranj visits Kiwa who is in bed on one of the wards. Kiwa is going to be having an operation and needs to have a nasogastric tube fitted so the doctors can give her special food and medicine.

Dr Ranj explains that a nasogastric, or NG tube, is fitted by being placed up Kiwa's nose, down her throat, then to her tummy. First, Dr Ranj must measure how much tube is needed, which he does by measuring from Kiwa's nose to her ear and down to the bottom of her chest. He puts some gel on the tube and puts it in her nose. He says it may tickle or make Kiwa cough.

Kiwa says it feels funny but Dr Ranj reassures her that she will get used to it. NG tube all fitted, Kiwa sings a song with Dr Ranj about how an NG tube works. Kiwa then gets a special sticker for being so good during her visit.
