The number of incidents is down, but the cost of rural crime has risen in Northern Ireland, and Devenish Nutrition is to open a new research facility in County Meath.

Rural crime cost Northern Ireland £2.6 million last year, an increase of around £100,000, but PSNI figures show the number of incidents is dropping each year. Our agriculture reporter Rebekah Logan has been finding out the true cost of crime for farmers. 

Agriculture-technology company Devenish Nutrition is to develop a new research facility in County Meath. Group Chief Executive Richard Kennedy explains why a project looking at soil testing is top of the list. 

And we're still in the hazy days of summer, but many farmers’ thoughts are on winter feed. Arable farmer Richard Kane says demand for his oilseed straw far outweighs the available supply.
