Sakamoto released his latest albums 'async' and 'async: remodels' in 2017, following four decades of work that has spanned multiple genres, and has seen him compose over thirty film scores.

His work has been awarded two Golden Globes, a Grammy, an Academy Award, the Order of the Cavaleiro Admissão from the government of Brazil, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the government of France.
