Nichole Christian meets 4 writers to discuss Detroit’s literary culture and find out what it’s like to be a writer in the city.

Detroit is known for its musical heritage, its motor industry and more recently a troubled economy. Nichole Christian visits a city with a rich history and a powerful reputation, to explore the role of words and writing, meeting the storytellers and poets who are capturing the hundreds of narratives emerging from their home city.

Nichole Christian talks to Nandi Comer, Deonte Osayande, Peter Markus, Jessica Care Moore, and Annie Spence about Detroit, and the challenges and triumphs of literary life there.
