Facebook have apologised for the misuse of user data in the Cambridge Analytica affair.

Facebook have taken out ads across Sunday newspapers in the UK and US to apologise for the improper use of tens of millions of users’ data in the Cambridge Analytica affair.

Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook have taken out ads across Sunday newspapers in the United Kingdom and US to offer apologies for the improper use of tens of millions of users’ data in the Cambridge Analytica affair. Jennifer Grygiel of Syracuse University assesses the public relations value of the apology, and Greg Williams of Wired UK gives his view on the effect the scandal is having on the company’s finances.

Swiss authorities have announced they are opening a criminal tax investigation against luxury fashion giant Kering, who control among others the brands Gucci, Stella McCartney and Yves St Laurent.  The authorities will be investigating whether profits made on Gucci sales in Italy were in fact declared in Switzerland. George Turner of the Tax Justice Network joins us to describe how companies are still able to artificially shift their business to more convenient territory.

Economist Michal Hughes then joins us to discuss inflation numbers out for Eurozone countries, and observes an uptick in expectations of inflationary pressure.

And finally, how the inability of NATO and state forces in Afghanistan to control the poppy trade are hurting prospects of stability in the country.
