The military has taken control but said President Robert Mugabe was safe

The military has taken control but said President Robert Mugabe was safe.

The army has seized power, with military vehicles patrolling the streets of the capital Harare. A general appeared on state TV saying the 93 year-old President Robert Mugabe was safe, and denying there was a coup.
