An undercover investigation exposing abuse and bullying inside an immigration removal centre. First broadcast 2017. The documentary led to a public inquiry.

A detainee custody officer wearing secret cameras exposes abuse and bullying inside the Brook House immigration removal centre. First broadcast in 2017, this Bafta-winning documentary revealed the mistreatment of people being held pending deportation from the UK.
The film led to a public inquiry that publishes its findings on Tuesday.
Whistle-blower turned undercover reporter Callum Tulley, then aged 21, provided a rare insight into the centre then run by private company G4S for the Home office.
Callum revealed the fear felt by asylum seekers detained alongside foreign nationals convicted of crimes in the UK. Some detainees had been held in the centre for months, even years.
Some of Callum’s fellow officers did their best in chaotic circumstances but he also filmed officers mocking, threatening, and abusing detainees in the centre where self-harm, suicide attempts and widespread drug use were all issues.
No-one was arrested or charged with any offence by the police following the original film.
