Charlie Gard's parents end their legal battle to take him to the USA for treatment.

The parents of Charlie Gard have ended their legal fight to take their son to the US for experimental treatment.

The parents of Charlie Gard have today ended their legal fight to take their son to the US for experimental treatment. A lawyer for Chris Gard and Connie Yates acknowledged that 'time had run out,' for the critically ill eleven-month-old.
The decision to withdraw the legal challenge comes as recent scans showed the treatment could not offer Charlie any chance of recovery. 
Charlie has mitochondrial disease, a rare genetic condition that has caused permanent brain damage. His parents, have spent five months challenging Great Ormond Street Hospital's decision to turn off their baby's life support. 
In a statement outside court, Charlie's parents described their son as a 'warrior'.
