On this week’s Arts Hour, Salma Hayek talks about working in close-up for her new film Beatriz at Dinner and how the director commanded her not to show facial emotion. 

British film director Mike Figgis demonstrates his pack of cards specially designed to help free writers from creative block.  Nikki and her studio guests test out the cards. 

The Belgian superstar director Ivo Van Hove argues that theatre is the art form of the future.  Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Brooks, stars of Orange is the New Black, discuss the new series of the hit TV series.  We hear about the art deco cinema in Wales that inspired legendary Welsh actors Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins to go into film.

Bestselling South African writer Deon Meyer joins Nikki Bedi to discuss breaking out of the crime genre and writing a Utopian novel set in a post-apocalyptic South Africa. Also joining Nikki is the American Vietnamese journalist and blogger William Lee Adams.
