Gregor Townsend's first match in charge of Scotland sees his side take on familiar opposition in unfamiliar surroundings. In the first tier one test match in south east Asia, Townsend will be looking for a repeat the 29-0 whitewash of Italy at Murrayfield in March, which contributed to Scotland's best Six Nations in a decade. Three of the four try scorers in that match are all named in the tour party of 34, with Finn Russell, Matt Scott and Tim Visser being selected alongside newcomers prop D'Arcy Rae, centre Nick Grigg and hooker George Turner.

With Greig Laidlaw, Tommy Seymour and Stuart Hogg all on duty with the British Lions, the tour is an opportunity for many players to impress the new coach and stake a claim not only for the two remaining tests against Australia and Fiji, but a challenging autumn series when the All Blacks will be among the visitors.
