Alys Fowler talks to Fiona Stalker about her new book, Hidden Nature.

Alys Fowler is best known for her gardening expertise, but she felt a pull to the water ways of Birmingham. She chats to Helen Needham about her life changing experience on the Birmingham canals and her new book "Hidden Nature". 

From canals in Birmingham to Scottish canals - Fiona chats to Richard Millar of Scottish Canals to find out a bit more about our underrated waterways. 

This weekend Fort William will be playing host to the Mountain Bike World Cup. We chat to Peter McFarlane to find out what's in store. 

Staying on the bike, reporter Karen MacKenzie recently went to chat to Mark Beaumont as he prepares himself to cycle around the world in 80 days. 

Steve Owens from the Glasgow Science Centre joins the show to tell us about how even on the lightest nights there's something to see in the sky. 

Story teller Grace Banks is back in the Beechgrove car park talking about the importance of letting kids explore the outdoors and telling us some tales of tall trees! 

With the rise of one day and urban festivals we chat to Mark Lenthall, Marketing Director of Digital Love Events to find out more about our love for local festivals. 

We have a live report from Gardening Scotland with Carole Baxter who will tell us the top sights of the weekend.

Scotland's Gardens allows gardens that are normally closed to the public to open their gates. One of the participating gardens is Grandhome in Aberdeen and Carole Baxter recently toured in the garden in the company of gardener, Lu McClintock and owner, Juliet Paton.

Students at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh have been planning gardens for a Gardening Scotland display. Karen MacKenzie caught up with the two winning designers to see what they've created.
