French voters will choose between Emmanuel Macron and Marine le Pen

French Presidential Election: centrist Emmanuel Macron and Marine le Pen of the National Front will be in next month's run-off.

The traditional parties of government in France have been snubbed in the first round of the presidential election; voters now have the choice of the centrist Emmanuel Macron and Marine le Pen of the National Front in next month's run-off.  

The president of  Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, has said he wants to resume talks with the opposition to find a way out of the country's political crisis.  

Local officials in northern Afghanistan say as many as 200 people may have been killed in Friday's Taliban attack on an army base.
