Socialist voters in France have cast their ballots in a presidential primary first round

The leftist candidate Benoit Hamon received the most votes, beating former Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

Socialist voters in France have been casting ballots in a nation-wide presidential primary, to decide on their nominee for the election in April. The leftist candidate Benoit Hamon received the most votes, beating former Prime Minister Manuel Valls. Marc-Olivier Padis, a research director for the left-leaning think tank Terra Nova, tells us more about the two candidates who now face a run-off election next Sunday.

Plus, US President Donald Trump has only been in the job for three days but he is already talking about making changes to the way America trades with the rest of the world. On Sunday he pledged to begin renegotiating Nafta, the North American Free Trade Agreement, when he meets with the leaders of Canada and Mexico. Dudley Althaus, the Wall Street Journal's reporter in Mexico, explains how Mexicans feel about the free trade agreement.
