Matthew Sweet is live at London's South Bank Centre celebrating film music from the year 1946 - when the Hays Code determined the coulds and the could nots; when Noir was at its height; when UK cinema going was at its peak.

The films and music featured in the programme include Alfred Hitchcock's "Notorious" with a score by Roy Webb, Miklos Rozsa's "The Killers", Max Steiner and "The Big Sleep", Dimitri Tiomkin and "Duel In The Sun", Georges Auric's music for Jean Cocteau's "Beauty And The Beast", Allan Gray and "A Matter Of Life And Death, Alan Rawsthorne and "The Captive Hearth", John Ireland's "The Overlanders", Mischa Spoliansky's "Wanted For Murder" and Hugo Friedhofer's "The Best Years Of Our Lives".
