Whitby Folk Week has been a key fixture on the English folk calendar for 51 years. On this week's Folk Show, Mark explores the historic North Yorkshire port, recording live music and conversations with this year's artists.

Mark finds Northumbrian concertina legend Alistair Anderson among the ruins of Whitby Abbey, where Bram Stoker had Dracula come ashore in his 1897 novel.

Teesside brothers The Wilson Family sing a shanty onboard a replica of Captain Cook's ship HMS Endeavour, which was built in Whitby in 1764.

Irish traveller singer Thomas McCarthy, singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine and upcoming English group The Dovetail Trio also perform live.

Six miles down the coast in Robin Hood's Bay, Mark meets up with Marry Waterson - daughter of Lal Waterson and niece of both Norma Waterson and Mike Waterson - who sings in the beautiful, disused, Old St. Stephen's Church.
